We love college students! With thousands of college students in the area we are excited about partnering with you during this time in your life. Our purpose is to worship the Lord by leading people to new life and maturity in Christ. We believe the best way to do this is through relationships. Our approach to college ministry is to build a relational ministry through meaningful Bible study. We recognize that college years are filled with the challenges of balancing class schedules, study time, jobs, and social relationships with the added challenge of learning to be more independent coming into young adulthood. We also understand that it is also a time of personal growth and exploration with many diverse ideas being introduced into the lives of young adults. It is our desire that our College Ministry would enable students to grow in their walk with Christ, in their relationships in a like faith community of believers, to grow in their personal understanding of scripture and how to apply the truth of God’s Word so as to make wise, God-pleasing, decisions for their future success.
Currently we offer a College/Career or Young Adults Sunday School class meets at 9:15 a.m. in room 208/209. Worship services are at 10:30 a.m. and Discipleship Classes on Sunday evenings take place at 6 p.m. in various classrooms. College students are encouraged to join with other adult classes on Sunday evenings so as to blend learning styles, ages, and experience. Thursday night is College Night!!! We meet in small group from 8:00-10:00 up stairs in room 212. This is a place of fellowship, support & prayer, and a place where ideas can be exchanged with peers and those leading. It can also be a place where questions are freely asked and answered when possible, and deep discussion can occur so as to allow us to sharpen one another.
Part of fellowship is to meet to have fun together as well and there will be some get-together nights that are casual, like pizza and movies at someone’s house, or more formal outings like holiday events, goofy golf, bowling, camping, hiking trips, etc.
There are also several other opportunities for college students to plug in at Calvary Baptist Church in ministries like music, children’s classes, nursery, adult studies and more.
